We are happy to announce the release of WPYTHub version 1.6.4, bringing a UI fix for the bulk manual importer feature. This update addresses an issue related to the pagination of results returned by the YouTube API when performing search queries.
What’s Changed in Version 1.6.4?
-
Improved Pagination for YouTube Search Queries
Previously, the interface displayed the “Next” and “Previous” page links along with the total number of entries returned by the YouTube API. However, there was a problem — the total number of results for search queries provided by the API was often inaccurate. For example, the API might report finding 123 results but only return 6 or 8 actual videos.
Given this inconsistency, we have removed the display of the total number of results when making YouTube search queries.
-
Enhanced Pagination Link Design
To further improve the user experience, we’ve added distinct styling for disabled pagination links. Now, when there are no more pages to load (for example, when you’re on the last page), the “Next” and “Previous” buttons will be visibly different from the active ones, making it easier to navigate the import process.
Why This Update Matters
The YouTube API’s search result approximations caused confusion for many users. By refining the way we display and handle search results, we’re offering a more transparent and reliable interface for bulk importing videos. These improvements help prevent user frustration by making it clearer when results are limited and providing more intuitive navigation for paginated results.
